Louisiana Death Records
This service only issues certified copies of microfilmed death certificates for deaths that occurred in Louisiana between 1911–1971. The database also contains older death records for some parishes, such as deaths that occurred in Jefferson parish before 1911, and deaths that occurred in Orleans parish as early as 1804.

Louisiana is a "closed record" state. This means that birth and death certificates are not public records. All requests for birth or death certificates must include proper identification, appropriate fees, and a completed application. Fetal death certificates and Certificates of Birth Resulting in Stillbirth may also be ordered.

If you need a certified copy of a birth or death certificate from another state, you must contact that state's vital records office. Under Louisiana law, birth records are strictly confidential until 100 years after the year of birth and death records are strictly confidential until 50 years after the year of the death.
